Microsoft has released a publically available dataset based on 20 years worth of world cup data and is hosting it using Power BI. One of Power BI’s key features is its ability to interpret natural language into analytical queries. Here are a few that I tried and the results delivered by the engine…
Got the right answer – France!
Pretty good – turns out the answer is 6!
Neat – this gives me a list of games sorted by the number of goals. Germany vs. Saudia Arabia is the highest at 8 goals to zero.
Not bad – shows the right query but shows the whole list instead of just the top 5.
Here are some queries that don’t work as expected…
Not quite right – confusion over the word “times” as time instead of a count.
Not quite right – confusion over the word “vs”. Shouldn’t be just all the goals that England score + goals that France scored but the intersection of games where both were playing at the same time.
Not quite right – shows goals by player instead of by team.
